Industrial areas open for development in Pretoria

While industrial development land is  becoming more limited in the greater Pretoria area, there are still a number of areas that can be targeted, including Irene, the N4 gateway, Sunderland Ridge and Louwlardia.

This is according to Org Geldenhuys, MD of marketing and development company, Abacus DIVISIONS. Geldenhuys said his company would be “expanding its footprint” into these areas as clients searched for new industrial space to rent or develop

He said that Abacus DIVISIONS is marketing a 4.5 hectare site in Louwlardia with rights to develop a 27 000m2  industrial/distribution facility. “This is a unique opportunity for any distribution company to co-locate in Centurion’s Distribution Hub.”

“Louwlardia, for instance – which is on the border of Centurion and  Midrand – serves as the distribution hub for a number of SA’s major retailers, who have established their warehouse facilities in the area. This includes Shoprite & Checkers, as well as Woolworths and others.  Shoprite ‘s distribution facility is 145 000 m2, which is the largest distribution centre under one roof on the continent.”

He said that in Irene a new industrial estate –Rietvlei Industrial Estate – has recently being launched. But, despite this, there is a serious lack of industrial space in Irene. This is one of the reasons we are increasing our area of focus.

“The industrial property market is clearly leading the recovery in the overall property market,” said Geldenhuys.
